Project Detail

Engineered With Layton (EWL) served as Prime A/E to provide services for the investigation, preparation of working designs, construction documents, construction period services and cost estimates for the Gait and Prosthetics Lab of the George E. Wahlen Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT.  The project included new construction, totaling 2,600 SF, to support the Polytrauma Amputation Network Site and associated administrative support.  An interior renovation of vacated rehabilitation space, approximately 3,700 SF, will support the lab.  The project meets all sustainability, energy, security and seismic requirements of current VA standards.

The design has incorporated emergency power to support ongoing utility operation due to the function of the space as well as met blast protection requirements. The design meets LEED silver certification.
